Matt and I took a whirlwind trip to New York City a few weeks ago, and it was wonderful! Our main mission was to see some great art, so we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art twice. Our mutual favorite genre of art to look at is painting, so we definitely lingered in those sections – BUT I was BLOWN AWAY by the special Heavenly Bodies display. Like, knock down, jaw dropped in awe, completely amazed. I’ve never seen high fashion designer gowns in real life before, so to be face to face with Dior, Balenciaga, Valentino was so inspiring. We also spent a day at the Museum of Modern Art, focusing on the Being: New Photography 2018 show (big surprise!) We also saw the classics, though, like Van Gogh’s Starry Night and Monet’s Water Lillies, and loads of Picasso.

In between all of the art viewing, I managed to do three photoshoots. Today I’m sharing the first of three with you!

Ashten and I met a couple of years ago at a birthday dinner for my sister in law and muse, Lauren. We’ve stayed in touch somewhat through Instagram, so I reached out a few days before our trip to see if she could shoot! She is represented in a few locations throughout the U.S. (New York City, North Carolina and Miami, I believe,) so I was excited to see if we could add something new to her portfolio. (Edit: as of 2019 Ashten is now represented by Wilhelmina Models.) We met up on a super sunny morning on the Upper East Side and managed to get quite a few different looks in a little over an hour. Lauren was our trusty assistant, wielding the reflector – which is quite a job with such harsh morning sun.

Happy to share a few of my favorites with you here! Which look is your favorite?
