Oh boy oh boy…where to begin? Chris and Britta got married on a Saturday at the beautiful Sheraton Kauai. It was a gorgeous day and I felt so lucky to be there to capture it (I’ll share it here soon!) – but today, I’m sharing our shoot from a few days after their big day.
Britta’s family has been coming to Hawaii (and Kauai, more specifically) since before she was born, so they knew exactly which spots are most picturesque on the island. Her dad served as tour guide and chauffeur, pulling off in parking lots along the way so we could grab specific views that he had in mind. What a champ!
You can’t exactly take an hour and half road trip in the midst of your wedding day, so we did this engagement-esque shoot to hit all of their favorite spots. We drove along the coast from Poipu to Hanalei – through Lihue, Wailua, Kapa’a, Kilauea to Princeville where Hanalei Beach is. The beautiful green church you see in a few images is the Wai-oli Hui’ia United Church of Christ, which Britta’s family has admired for a long time.
I can’t even begin to describe how perfect the evening was, from sun coming in and out of the clouds to the most perfect rays of light shooting down over Hanalei Beach as soon as we arrived.
Britta wore a phenomenal dress by Śeni Moto which moved perfectly in the breeze and echoed the waves as they crashed along the shoreline.
If you’re planning an engagement shoot, an elopement or a wedding in Kauai I can’t recommend this area enough (well, really all of Kauai was just excellent, but these spots on the road to Hanalei really were special.) Oh, and make sure to bring me along. 🙂
