Covid has taken and taken and taken this year, but couples with the intention to get married in 2020 have risen to the occasion of planning (and re-planning…and re-planning) with admirable grace. Danny and Jaclyn are no exception. What was once a glitzy, glamorous evening at Earl & Wilson in St. Paul, a industrial/historic building with gorgeous exposed brick and velvet furniture became an intimate ceremony and reception at a family cabin on the lake.
From Jaclyn’s first email inquiry, I just had a feeling that we needed to work together. I ended up calling her because I couldn’t get the description of her day out of my head (emerald green! velvet! twinkle lights! glamour!) and the three of us ended up meeting up for coffee soon after. You know that feeling when you meet someone and it’s just…easy? That was our vibe from the beginning.
Anyways, back to the day. My second shooter Kevin and I started the trek out to Heartland Conference Center in Wisconsin bright and early. We had a lovely overcast day (the easiest light for photos) with an occasional spurt of sun. After completing most of our posed photos at Heartland Conference Center, we headed to Danny’s family cabin in Trego, WI for the ceremony and reception.
Remember Jaclyn’s email about twinkle lights galore? Oh honey she came through on that promise, even though the venue changed drastically. I would try to describe the ceremony and reception for you, but honestly, the photos are going to do a better job than I could with that. To sum it up? Magical.
I would shoot this very same day one hundred times over again. Mr & Mrs McDonald, thank you for having me. Your joy and enthusiasm for life is something that sticks with me to this day. One of the best days ever!
