Makeup artist, visionary, inspiration, friend and sister-in-law…Lauren is absolutely stunning and spending a few hours last week with her for some new head shots was a dream. We went from light to dark, grungy to glamorous in a few hours and came up with some of my favorite photographs in quite a while.

In the first and second sets, (all light and harsh shadows) we shot in my apartment building’s side entryway. This drives the point home that location sometimes really doesn’t matter! The light photos were shot using a prism for the light effect on the left side, and everything that you see was done in-camera.

Our third set was shot under my apartment building in the garage. Lit by iPhone flashlight with wind provided by my husband Matt wildly swooshing a reflector around, we got grungy – truly the polar opposite of the first set.

Fourth, we trekked out to the freezing outdoors of my building to shoot some classic, beautiful portraits. And with the last light of the day, we shot a few frames in my bedroom to bring out her incredible blue eyes.

These photos were the perfect creative refresher I needed, and I’m so happy to share them with you today!
